Number Says Hi
Numbers, made more human.
A small, independent calculator for the number questions that turn up in real life. Ask naturally, get a careful answer, see the working, and get on with your day.
Maths you can follow
For straightforward arithmetic, the calculator uses a local, restricted calculation engine. When a question needs interpretation, the service sends the wording to our hosted calculator service, which returns a validated plan for deterministic calculation.
What it can calculate
Supported operations are intentionally bounded. They include arithmetic expressions; percentages and bill splits; supported unit conversions; durations between seconds and days; date differences and date addition; savings and budgets; and fixed-rate loan-payment estimates.
- Units: length, weight, area, volume with explicit US/UK/metric conventions, time, data size, and temperature. Unsupported or ambiguous unit names are declined or clarified.
- Currencies: GBP, USD, EUR, JPY, CAD, AUD, CHF, INR and TRY are recognized. Exchange estimates need a live available rate and show its source and date; a rate is not guaranteed to be available.
- Dates: clear written dates or ISO dates are supported for specified operations. Ambiguous numeric dates may need clarification; month and year durations use calendar arithmetic where applicable and state assumptions.
- Finance: savings, budgets and a simple fixed nominal-rate loan estimate are supported. Taxes, fees, investment returns, variable rates, eligibility and full mortgage offers are outside the calculation model.
Recognized arithmetic can run in your browser. Requests needing intent interpretation use the hosted service and configured AI provider; deterministic code calculates the numeric result. Not every wording or calculation is supported.
